A family friendly restaurant near The Winter Garden Theatre
School of Rock is the latest smash hit from Andrew Lloyd Webber, the man who brought us Cats and The Phantom of the Opera, among so many other unforgettable hits.
Based on the hit film, this musical follows Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star whose "day job" is as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. He soon assembles a bad-ass rock band from these nerdy students, and unleashes the wild child hidden within the school’s headmistress.
It shows at the famous Winter Garden Theater, which recently celebrated its 100th year as a theater! Winter Garden has been home to many popular productions, particularly revues and musicals, such as the Ziegfield Follies, Peter Pan, Wonderful Town, Mame, West Side Story, 42nd Street and Cats, which ran for 19 years, and Mamma Mia. Show business legends who have graced The Winter Garden stage include Al Jolson, Mae West (Jolson and West appeared together in 1911!), Fred Astaire, Fanny Brice, Angela Lansbury, Buddy Ebsen, Bob Hope, Eve Arden, Josephine Baker, Richard Harris, James Earl Jones and Gilda Radner.
